Beginning in 1980, Tom Meek served as Producer, Executive Producer, Writer, Editor and/or Researcher for thousands of local television programs and segments of news, sports, arts, talk, public service, and more during his tenures at multiple TV stations in the Orlando TV market.

From 1984 to 1990, Tom Meek produced, wrote and edited a series of documentary television programs for WOFL-TV, Orlando.  These included:

1984 – “HMO – Hew Choices In Health Care” - This program dealt with the introduction of the first Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) to Central Florida and the potential changes and challenges to the traditional health care systems in the United States.  It included segments shot in Minneapolis and other locations with leading experts in the field of HMO's in the US.  It won a Bronze Medal at the 1984 New York International Film & Television Festival.

1985-86 - “Hurricane: Will You Be Ready?” - This program was developed to show the potential (and eventual) impacts of major hurricane strikes across Central Florida, and featured extensive research and interviews with leading weather forecasters and public safety officials from across Florida.  The program became a mainstay of public safety agency training for disaster agencies across Central Florida for the next decade, and aired multiple times on WOFL-TV.

1986-87- “Tiffany:  An Orlando Treasure Lost?” - This program dealt with the future of the collections of the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum Of American Art in Winter Park, Florida – home to the most widely celebrated collection of works of Louis Comfort Tiffany.  The program featured extended interviews with Dr. Hugh McKean, founder of the Morse Museum, as well as segments shot at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Toledo Museum Of Art, and Birmingham Museum of Art.  This program aired three times during 1986-87, and was an important part in keeping the Morse Collections together and available for the eventual much larger Morse Museum Of American Art that opened in 1995.  The program was used for docent training along with a presentation from Tom Meek at the original Morse Museum from 1986-1994.

1989 - “Managed Care – Changes And Challenges For Hospitals In the 1990's” - This program dealt with the introduction of managed care into Central Florida's hospital and medical care systems, and the major eventual impacts it was likely to have in delivering patient care going forward into the 1990's.
